The Top Skin Rejuvenation Treatments And The Most Common Skin Conditions

Blog

What types of skin issues can a medi spa, dermatologist, or cosmetic surgeon treat? You want clear, smooth, fresh skin. But the creams, lotions, and toners you've tried at home haven't helped. Take a look at what you need to know about skin rejuvenation treatments and some of the most common skin conditions.

Dry Skin

In theory, plenty of hydration (drinking enough water) and the right moisturizer should keep your face from flaking. But the brutal cold and dry winter indoor air can chap your skin, making it red, rough, and dry. If your face is flaky, has dry patches, or your skin just looks dull, microdermabrasion or a chemical peel can leave you with a fresh new look. Along with these intense treatments, a hydrating facial can add mega-moisture levels to parched skin.

Skin Discoloration

Has chronic summertime sun exposure left you with splotches on your skin? Do you have acne-related redness or another type of discoloration? If lightening creams won't remove spots or other hyperpigmentation, your doctor may suggest a professional-strength method.

Laser skin resurfacing and chemical peels are two medical spa options that can eliminate or reduce the appearance of darker spots. To achieve dramatic or noticeable results with a chemical peel, you may have to choose a deep peel option. According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), this can take between 14 and 21 days to heal.

Acne Scars

Like discoloration, laser resurfacing and deep chemical peels can help to remove some types of acne scars. Along with these med spa options, microdermabrasion, microneedling, and dermal fillers can treat this type of post-acne condition.

Before you choose a cosmetic skin treatment to eliminate or reduce the look of acne scars, talk to your dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon about the type of scarring you want to treat. Raised (or hypertrophic) scars and pitted (or atrophic) scars require different types of treatment. Soft tissue fillers can add volume to atrophic scars. But these injectables won't help raised bumps. If you have hypertrophic scarring you may need dermabrasion or another resurfacing procedure.

Rosacea of the Skin

This common condition causes acne-like bumps and flushed (or red) skin. While topical products can help to manage the bumps, some people need a stronger or more complex type of cosmetic skin rejuvenation treatment. Laser therapy can reduce the appearance of visible blood vessels. This minimizes the red or flushed face look. Talk to your doctor about how your skin type and tone will respond to this type of treatment before you choose a laser procedure for rosacea.

how a cosmetic procedure changed my life

All of my life, I was picked on for having a larger nose that most other people. I had dealt with picking and torment throughout high school and college, but once I graduated from college, I decided to make a few changes to the way that I look. Some people are not so open to cosmetic procedures and gave me a hard time about my choice, but after the procedure was complete and my nose was healed, they could see why I did what I did. You can follow my story on my website. Here, you will learn what I went through before, during and after my procedure.
