Are You a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?

Blog

When people speak about breast enhancement, they are most often referring to breast augmentation procedures, such as implants and fat transplants. But in some cases, the breast enhancement you're seeking may actually be a breast lift — not one of these other surgeries. How do you know whether a breast lift is right for you? Consider the following questions as you contemplate the possibility.

Do you wish your breasts did not hang so low on your chest?

Breast augmentation procedures are for people who wish their breasts were larger. Sometimes, people initially assume this is what they want, but after they spend some time thinking about it, they realize that what they really want is breasts that don't hang so low. Look in the mirror, and try to narrow down what, exactly, it is that you want to change about your breasts. If you conclude that you primarily want them to sit higher on your chest — perhaps closer to where they sat when you were younger — then a breast lift may be the best path for you to achieve your goals.

Have you been pregnant and breastfed?

While some women who have never been pregnant do get breast lifts, the procedure is far more common among women who have given birth and breastfed their infant. Pregnancy and breastfeeding do often cause the breasts to sag. The skin at the top of the breast loosens and stretches when the breast grows during nursing, and it never quite shrinks down to its pre-pregnancy state. If you've been pregnant and breastfed, and now you're unhappy with the way your breasts look, there is a good chance a breast lift is the procedure you're after.

Are you in good overall health?

A breast lift is a surgical procedure. So, your doctor will want you to be in good physical health in order to undergo this surgery. If you have a condition like diabetes, which slows down your healing process, or if you are a heavy smoker or drinker, this elective surgery may not be the best choice for you right now. On the other hand, if you're in good overall health, you can expect your doctor to tell you you're a candidate.

Breast lift procedures are not for everyone, but they can be a great choice for those with sagging breasts. Talk to your doctor or a cosmetic surgeon if you have questions or concerns.

how a cosmetic procedure changed my life

All of my life, I was picked on for having a larger nose that most other people. I had dealt with picking and torment throughout high school and college, but once I graduated from college, I decided to make a few changes to the way that I look. Some people are not so open to cosmetic procedures and gave me a hard time about my choice, but after the procedure was complete and my nose was healed, they could see why I did what I did. You can follow my story on my website. Here, you will learn what I went through before, during and after my procedure.
