Botox has been FDA approved for cosmetic purposes (to treat wrinkles) since 2002, so chances are that you'll have a rough idea about how it works. It's an injectable, and as such, is strategically injected into key muscles in order to relax them, which in turn smooths the skin above those muscles, minimizing the appearance of wrinkles. Botox usage is widespread, and this usage is not entirely cosmetic. If you tend to perspire (or just plain sweat) to the point that it affects your self-confidence, you might want to start thinking about the other Botox services that are available.
Targeted Muscles
Botox is a safe and effective means of immobilizing the site it has been injected into. This is why it's so efficient when it comes to smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles, as a qualified beautician or medical professional knows precisely which muscles to target. However, when your sweating is out of control, you may wish for another part of your body to be targeted with a Botox injectable — namely, your sweat glands.
Immobilizing Glands
Botox injected into sweat glands will essentially immobilize your sweat glands, although this effect will only be temporary. As the Botox wears off, your sweat glands will gradually return to full capacity until the process is repeated. The duration of effectiveness will vary, and it can depend on the number of injections, along with the site of the injections.
Under Your Skin
More about the site of those injections — will facial Botox immobilize your sweat glands while also minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles? It's all about the previously mentioned target of the injection. While Botox administered primarily for cosmetic purposes will be injected into your facial muscles, Botox targeting your sweat glands will be injected under your skin (as opposed to directly into the muscle). While there might be some cosmetic effect, this was not the intended purpose of the Botox, and so any changes to the appearance of your face will be negligible.
Other Injection Sites
It's not always about your face either, and Botox can be injected directly into your armpits, which is a common occurrence for celebrities walking the red carpet. Although your sweat glands will be temporarily immobilized, you may still excrete a small amount of sweat, which when combined with bacteria, can result in body odor (so you can't do away with deodorant altogether). Additionally, Botox can be injected into the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet to control sweating in these areas.
You might have thought that Botox was only for those who wanted youthful skin, but it also has significant benefits for those whose skin is often covered in sweat.

All of my life, I was picked on for having a larger nose that most other people. I had dealt with picking and torment throughout high school and college, but once I graduated from college, I decided to make a few changes to the way that I look. Some people are not so open to cosmetic procedures and gave me a hard time about my choice, but after the procedure was complete and my nose was healed, they could see why I did what I did. You can follow my story on my website. Here, you will learn what I went through before, during and after my procedure.
