In the Western world, hair on your legs, arms, lips, armpits and even your bikini area is just not socially acceptable. Because all of the models and advertisements promote hair-free, smooth and sexy bodies, women (and some men) associate no hair with sex appeal and beauty. If you struggle with removing hair from any part of your anatomy, there are choices available to you that can help you feel less stressed and more carefree.
Shaving
Even the best and most expensive razors cannot eliminate hair for very long. Razors remove hair at the surface of your skin, but new growth lies just beneath. This is why you end up with new growth only a day or two after you just shaved. If you have increased levels of testosterone in your blood (which peri-menopausal, menopausal and post-menopausal women do) you are going to get more hair in faster, thicker and darker, just like a guy's beard. If you are sick of shaving, try another method.
Epilation
You have probably seen the epilators in the pharmacies or department stores and wondered how effective these are. The truth is, they do remove hair, but they try to yank it out and get the root with it. It is extremely painful, and if you have finer hair, the hair actually breaks off when pulled by the epilator, leaving you with stubble in some areas and yanked, sore spots in others. Epilation is best for women with really thick, coarse hair because this type of hair gives the epilator something to grab onto. The one positive is that it does keep the hair away longer than shaving (when it is effective).
Waxing
There is cold waxing and hot waxing. Hot waxing is more effective because the heat of the wax feels nice on a cold day and because it opens up the pores. When your waxing specialist applies the cotton strips to pull the wax and the hair off, it hurts less because the pores are not constricted around the hair follicles. Waxing keeps hair away from two to eight weeks, depending on the number of applications you have already been through and how fast your hair grows. At any rate, the hair grows back much softer and paler in color, a plus for women with dark, coarse hair.
Sugaring
Imagine pouring hot, grainy, sticky syrup on your legs and letting it harden. This is exactly what sugaring is. It is very similar to hot waxing, except that it also leaves your skin feeling very soft afterwards.
Laser Hair Removal
When you have finally and completely had it with all other forms of hair removal, try laser hair removal. A cosmetic surgeon or an aesthetician who is licensed to use a laser, like those at Florida Aesthetics and Medical Weight Loss, can provide these treatments, and the results are permanent. Since hair growth varies from follicle to follicle, you will see hair growth after the first couple of treatments, but this is other hair growing in and not the hair that was zapped by a laser. Eventually, you will have no more hair in the areas that are treated with a laser.

All of my life, I was picked on for having a larger nose that most other people. I had dealt with picking and torment throughout high school and college, but once I graduated from college, I decided to make a few changes to the way that I look. Some people are not so open to cosmetic procedures and gave me a hard time about my choice, but after the procedure was complete and my nose was healed, they could see why I did what I did. You can follow my story on my website. Here, you will learn what I went through before, during and after my procedure.
