New Innovations In Acne Treatment: What You Should Know

Blog

When you suffer from acne, you feel like everyone you meet is judging you by the condition of your skin. You feel self-conscious and unsure of yourself, and may even avoid social activities because of an acne breakout. While you may think that none of the available acne treatments will help you get over your acne struggles, there are new innovations being made in acne treatment that may be able to help. All you need to do is learn about some of these treatment innovations and see if they will work for you. The only thing you have to lose is your acne.

Targeted Therapies

While most acne treatments that you can buy over the counter are general face washes that use the same basic ingredients, treatment innovations are headed in a new direction. Researchers are trying to develop what are known as targeted therapies that will better treat blemishes and prevent future outbreaks.

One of these latest innovation uses ultrasounds to transmit gold particles through the skin follicles and into the glands underneath (sebaceous glands). Those particles are then treated with a laser. This causes those tiny particles to heat up and block the production of sebum which clogs your pores and causes blemishes.

This is a local treatment aimed to target specific breakout-prone areas. It also will not irritate or dry out your skin like those face washes you have been using to treat your acne. Targeted therapies such as this are still being tested. However, look for such treatment options in the future to rid you of your acne.

Light Therapy

Because many doctors are growing concerned about the long-term effects of using antibiotics to treat acne, many are leaning toward using alternative treatments. One of the treatments being used more often now is known as light therapy.

The bacteria the contribute to your acne breakouts need to be removed or killed to prevent them from causing further breakouts and to allow your acne blemishes to heal. Exposing those bacteria to certain types of light can kill them, therefore ridding you of acne blemishes.

Blue light has been found to be the most effective type of light to get rid of these bacteria, though doctors may also use red light along with the blue. The combination of a topical medication, pulsed blue and red lights, and heat are used to treat blemishes and kill bacteria on the surface of your skin.

As you can see, there are innovations being made in the treatment of acne. While your standard face washes may not be doing the trick, you do have other options available and coming available to you. So, keep these acne treatment innovations in mind the next time you visit your dermatologist.

how a cosmetic procedure changed my life

All of my life, I was picked on for having a larger nose that most other people. I had dealt with picking and torment throughout high school and college, but once I graduated from college, I decided to make a few changes to the way that I look. Some people are not so open to cosmetic procedures and gave me a hard time about my choice, but after the procedure was complete and my nose was healed, they could see why I did what I did. You can follow my story on my website. Here, you will learn what I went through before, during and after my procedure.
